The Gangasagar Fair 2024 has commenced, attracting a large number of devotees to Sagar. Unfortunately, the festive atmosphere was marred by the untimely deaths of two pilgrims from different states. Prahlad Singh, a pilgrim from Boira in Uttar Pradesh, fell ill near the boat ghat of Namkhana while on his way to Gangasagar.
Policemen on duty promptly took him to Narayanpur Primary Health Center in Namkhana, but as his condition worsened, he was transferred to Kakdweep Super Specialty Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Simultaneously, Mohanlal Prajapati from Dosa, Rajasthan, suffered a heart attack and passed away while bathing in the Ganga during the fair.
The Gangasagar Disaster Management Force personnel rushed him to Sagar Rural Hospital, where doctors confirmed his demise. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted before the bodies are handed over to the respective families.
